George Shishkovsky is known in Russia as Yegor (or
Egor) Shishkovsky. He is a well respected
entertainment/music journalist and broadcaster in
his native country. He was born in Moscow but traveled
a lot with his parents. The son of a
prominent TV broadcaster, Yegor developed a
passion for radio in his teenage years. When he
was 17 he co-presented Russia’s first radio
programme to concentrate wholly on Western music.
In 1993 Yegor moved to London and studied marketing
with a view to starting a new career, but found that
he was naturally drawn to journalism.
In 1995
he launched his own London based radio show. This
became an exciting weekly programme broadcast live
from London across the whole of Russia, bringing
listeners the latest music, new releases,
entertainment stories and celebrity interviews.
“Live from the West” was a great success -
reaching up to 40 million listeners a week and was
broadcast for nearly eight years. Finally
Yegor decided to close the show down in December
2002 to take some time off and to concentrate on
new projects.
Currently Yegor is involved in TV consultancy and
production. His production company Kremlin
Productions is also involved in website design.
